Kotor

The earliest traces of human presence in the Crikvenica area appear on the tops of the surrounding hills already in the Bronze Age. Their traces are recognized due to the stone walls, built in the shape of a ring, which is still visible in the landscape. The remains of dry stone walls are still preserved on the hill in Kotor where can be found a huge burial mound made from a pile of stones, known as Vela Gromaca. The residents of Kotor abandoned it after the big fire in the 18th century and there is a great archaeological and tourist attraction site today. You can reach the foot of Kotor hill near Crikvenica in about ten minutes from the center if you have rented holiday accommodation in Crikvenica, with quickly approaching to the top through the beautiful trail. The renovation of the old stone walls is a special attraction of the summer season, in which all of you can participate along with the residents of Crikvenica.
